Frequently asked questions
- Is my text sent to a server to generate speech?
- No. This tool uses your browser's built-in text-to-speech engine (the Web Speech API) — your text is never uploaded anywhere.
- Why don't I see any voices, or only a few?
- Available voices depend entirely on your browser and operating system. Try switching browsers, or install additional language or voice packs in your system settings.
- Can I download the speech as an audio file?
- Not yet — this tool plays speech live through your browser's speech engine, which doesn't expose an audio file. For downloadable audio you'd need a dedicated text-to-speech service.
- Why does playback stop unexpectedly on long text?
- Some browsers limit how long a single utterance can run. If this happens, try splitting your text into shorter sections.
